Avoided Deforestation

"The forests win, the atmosphere wins, the international community wins, and developing nations struggling to overcome poverty win." William F. Laurance Smithsonian, Tropical Research Institute in Panama, President of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation.

Avoided Deforestation is the act of generating Carbon Credits through protecting forests that were destined to be cleared. Deforestation occurs through land clearing or logging and is globally the single largest contributor to global warming, accounting for 20% of greenhouse gas emissions.

AusCarbon International has considerable experience in avoided deforestation (preserving existing forests) and is actively pursuing projects of this type in Australia and in the region. AusCarbon International specialises in engaging all stake holders and provided workable solutions that not only share the opportunity but provide meaningful long term employment and opportunities for those that use the forest. It is only by linking financial incentives to the forest and by providing alternative employment opportunities the preservation of the forest can be assured.
